The Surreal Paintings of Shih Yung-Chun

Taipaei-based artist Shih Yung-Chun uses recurring motifs like dolls, puppets, animals and figurines in his surreal paintings.  Shih Yung-Chun has referred to his works as “soap operas”, suggesting the fictionalized nature of surreal re-imaginings of everyday scenes, where subjects including himself and his dog are seen in rather bizarre settings.
