Troy Coulterman is an artist from Arnprior, Ontario and is a recent graduate of the MFA program at the University of Regina, majoring in sculpture. After graduating, Troy has exhibited his work in solo shows in the United States and group shows in Canada. Before receiving his MFA, Troy worked in sculpture related jobs in art casting foundries, television and movies.
Coulterman crafts three-dimensional human figures in seductive colors, with exaggerated features and forms that are directly influenced from graphic novels. Absurd, abstract forms engulf, drip and extrude from the figures he creates. These forms that surround or become part of the figures are visual metaphors of absurd anomalies and emotional states the characters he creates are experiencing.
