Check out the stunning shattered animal portraits by New Jersey-based artist Angela Gram.
The paintings are meant to explore a hierarchy between humanity and nature within a sociological and psychological context. The layered animal imagery symbolizes an admittedly very romantic ideal that asserts naturalism over artificiality. In the background of each image, the bodily flesh was painted anonymously, conveying the figure as an ambiguous and dehumanized part of the landscape.
