Five Stages of Drunkenness

The five stages of inebriation are shown in this series of photographs taken by Charles Percy Pickering in 1863. Whether they were commissioned by an alchohol temperance group, or produced for reference for future illustrations, one thing is clear that some things never change- a party isn’t a party unless it ends in a wheelbarrow.
