Miss Van’s new series, “Mascaras”
September 6th, 2010Miss Van has some new work previewed on Juxtapoz.com, and being that Miss Van is an alumnus of FIFTY24SF Gallery, we wanted to share it with you. Here is the write-up: The works in Mascaras focus on the elegance and extreme sensuality of the raw female body, the decorated animals at their side as well as the animals within them, and above all the hidden intimacy that is discretely revealed via the masks that the poupees wear.
Retna x El Mac “Of Our Youth” mural and film
August 25th, 2010Mac and Retna got down with this new mural in Culver City, titled Of Our Youth. You can see it on the side of Graphaids art supply store, on La Cienega. And they made a short video for the piece, as it hold a bit of significance because it is based on a man that Retna and Mac met on Skid Row when painting there earlier this year. The man’s name was Ralph Woodruff aka Chato.

Studio visit with Tomer Hanuka
August 16th, 2010Juxtapoz went and stopped by the studio of Tomer Hanuka, one of our favorite comic book and illustrators working in the game today. Game changers, we like to call them down on the farm (Lower Haight).
See the whole visit here.
