Catalog Gallery Presents : Ben Tour ‘Notes From the Underground’ from Catalog Creative on Vimeo.

Old friend, Vancouver-based Ben Tour, is set to open a new series of works on paper at Catalog Gallery in Vancouver this Thursday, March 8. Tour says of the work, “This show is a collection of works on paper and painted installations. I approached the imagery as a series showcasing my style and preferred materials and techniques. Named after a song by Dezarie, Remed took 12 days to finish this piece, writing “At first I worked in a horizontal way, and even if during the process I was already doubting of this choice, it is only once the drawing was finished, that I chose to make the character stand vertical… while listening to that song I love.”

This is where he liked to hide. We would think that if you were King, you would hide here, too. What an incredible structure. Wonder how much this would go for these days? From Beautiful Places to Visit:

Built in the late 1800s, the Neuschwanstein Castle in the state of Bavaria in southeast Germany was meant to be the private retreat of the reclusive King Ludwig II of Bavaria, but he died before it was completed. The castle was opened to the public in 1886 and it has seen over 60 million visitors since then. The Neuschwanstein Castle was built in the Romanesque Revival style and was the inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty castle. The castle is one of the most popular in Europe and currently sees over 1.3 million visitors a year and as many as 6,000 per day in the summer months. The castle overlooks the Hohenschwangau valley and is near the tourist town of Fussen where accommodation can be found.

One of our favorites, whom we have written about on TCR many times, is Swedish artist EKTA, who both in abstract, portrait, and mural techniques, makes stunning contemporary works. We just saw a few pieces that the artist posted on their site… and of course, we want them.

The City of Samba.

March 2nd, 2012

The City of Samba from Jarbas Agnelli on Vimeo.

Sometimes, amazing just doesn’t cut it. This video, “The City of Samba,” is beyond amazing. It makes you feel small, it makes you feel that humanity is too great, hell, it will make you cry. This makes you feel like war isn’t necessary. Think we are joking? Just watch it.

The video is a tilt shift of the Carnaval party in Rio de Janeiro made by Keith Loutit and Jarbas Agnelli.

If you bought Michael Jordan’s house, would you change the number on the gate

For $29m, you can have a 9-bedroom, 15-bath, 4-half bath, 32,683 square foot, 2-story, 15-car garage home that used to house Michael Jordan. The thing is, do you keep that #23 on the gate? Because my CYO number was 12, and those were some good memories of sitting on the bench while the coach’s son played.

Lake County, here we come.
