Hey, when someone has 45,000 euros to burn, and they want the less famous Checkpoint Bravo (far inferior to Checkpoint Charlie), why not bid on it and win? That’s right, a telephone bidder won one of the busiest crossing points between East and West Berlin back when crossing over was like parting the Red Sea.
ArtDaily reports “The sole bidder secured the site — which includes a derelict bridge and a crumbling cafe covered in graffiti.”
