History repeats itself. California is looking to China once again to build their railroads, as China helped build them years and years ago already. Governor Arnie S was in Shanghai making some statements on the topic of California’s high-speed SF to LA railway situation, which is voter-approved but not started. Typical Cali.

Reported in FastCompany: “We look to China to build our high speed rail, to be part of the bidding process that we are going to go through,” said Schwarzenegger while in Shanghai. Schwarzenegger is also in talks with neighboring South Korea and Japan, but if China can keep its costs low, it seems likely Schwarzenegger would award the contract to China.

Chinese fillmaker, Zhang Yimou, is remaking Blood Simple, the debut and superb film from the Coen Brothers. Some bloggers suggest that this is the start of China’s financial clout begins shaping the industry. The Texas-set tale of murder and betrayal, relocated to dusty Gansu province in ancient imperial times. Sounds great in our heads. Oh, and the title? A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop. No joke.

It will be release in the United States next month, so we all get to see it.

Ricky Gervais takes “The Office” to China

Everyone is curious how Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are going to pull off “The Office” China-version. The Guardian writes, “Given that media outlets in China operate under tight state control, the level of Gervais and Merchant’s involvement could be smaller than that it has been in other incarnations, although one suspects David Brent’s broad alignment with the philosophy of 90s pop artist Des’ree – “Money don’t make my world go round, I’m reaching out to a higher ground” – would fit fairly well with the convictions of the Central People’s Government.”

In other wonderful Gervais news, he, Merchant and lovable Karl Pilkington are currently working on a series called “An Idiot Abroad,” which sees “the hapless former radio producer and alleged possessor of a notably spherical head sent around the globe in a bid to broaden his mind.”

Can’t wait for that.

Would have expected this in Japan, not China, but here you go, the amazing future we have been waiting for is finally coming to fruition. From the looks of these pictures that we got from the Huffington Post, China seems to be understanding that public transportation is the way to go in their country.

The article states, “Instead of spending millions to widen roads, the Shenzhen Huashi Future Parking Equipment company is developing a “3D Express Coach” (also called a “three-dimensional fast bus”) that will allow cars less than 2 meters high to travel underneath the upper level carrying passengers.

Homeless in Shanghai have a new place to spend the night. McDonalds. Really a good place to stay if you think about it, they have food, they are open 24 hours a day, and sometimes, they have better plumbing than one’s own bathroom. KFC works as well. From China Daily, “But of the McDonald’s and KFC restaurants in Xujiahui, the most popular is the KFC on 123, Tianyao Road.

Late at night, it resembles a small inn. Barring a few lovers and young men stopping by from a nearby karaoke venue, the rest are all the so-called McRefugees.”

McRefugees. What a world.

North Korea vs South Korea and how this is going to go down

North Korea vs South Korea and how this is going to go down” posted from: The Citrus Report | Art, Culture, News, Graffiti, Music, Street Art, Clothing, Politics, Reviews

beac1894dbil 006.jpg North Korea vs South Korea and how this is going to go down street south korean south korea sinking korea headlines Graffiti culture china

North Korea sunk a South Korean ship. Because this is not “Battleship,” something far bigger is probably going to go down. China is reluctant to do anything because North Korea is an ally, so maybe just some bullshit sanctions, and the US is ready to back South Korea, and Hillary Clinton is off to China to talk this one out. The news reports say:

The South Korean Yonhap news agency reported, citing South Korean government sources, that Seoul may close sea routes that allow North Korean ships through its waters to save costs.

North Korea, which denies one of its submarines fired a torpedo at the corvette, said again that it would regard any punitive action as an act of war.

Tension on the Korean peninsula grew this week after an international investigation team blamed North Korea for the sinking of the Cheonan with 46 lives.

This ain’t going to go well, because North Korea has nothing to lose. Its a country in awful shape, the leader is not in the best health with nothing to lose, and he is a dictator. This look war-like. There could be bombs involved.
