Creating an army in Valencia, Spain, SAN and Escif, two of the most talented street painters in Europe, keeping the progression happening. Of course, we are going to see more from these two in San Francisco (a duo show at FIFTY24SF) and California in the Summer of 2011, but for now, we like what we see across the Atlantic.

A gem like the Criterion Collection now on-demand on Huluplus seems like a pretty good reason to upgrade.  They have 150 titles now and are supposed to make it something like 800 this year.  It is supposed to snow in San Francisco this weekend, so we may just hangout on the couch.

We will use any excuse to post about Bill Murray. We were to busy enjoying the sunshine in San Francisco to think about whether we will have an early spring this year. So, did the groundhog see it’s shadow this year or what?

They designed these posters with love, cut them in half, and posted their respective halves in Amsterdam (his home) and San Francisco (her home).”

Special SF Edition INSA Prints now available online

Upper Playground and FIFTY24SF Gallery are releasing new San Francisco special edition prints by INSA in conjunction with his ongoing exhibition at FIFTY24SF Gallery entitled ‘MORE’.

The prints are new takes by INSA on the now classic ‘Heel’ image that began to enter his work in 2004.  In the beginning, the image was simply an attempt to depart from the traditional macho driven culture that dominated graffiti – but has since become one of the defining images of INSA’s career and has been seen on countless walls in cities across the world.

The San Francisco editions of the prints come in six neon color ways and variations, to coincide with the neon murals that INSA accomplished throughout San Francisco over the last couple weeks.  Each print is executed as two colour silkscreens made using solvent based inks on Fabriano 5 300gsm paperstock. The prints measure 20″ x 28″ and are signed, blind-stamped and numbered by INSA.  Each color is limited to an edition of 15 and priced at $150 per print. Check them all out here.

While we can’t complain too much about our winter with it being a torturous 68 degrees today in San Francisco, this looks like a pretty good reason to take off to Honolulu this month.  With an open studio starting on February 16th and a show of the work created by a great lineup of artists on February 19th this will be tough to miss.

INSA Mural in San Francisco

January 27th, 2011

Fresh off some big mural projects in Los Angeles, London’s INSA is in San Francisco preparing for his solo exhibition at FIFTY24SF Gallery, our sister and partner gallery. We have been spending the past few days with INSA, and we can’t believe how quickly and methodical he can create mural of this style and complexity. The “INSA Heel” which has been a trademark and a signature of the artist, had yet to grace the streets of San Francisco, and on the corner of Oak and Scott, close to the Lower Haight gallery, we now have a great INSA piece.

Of course, we will have many images and preparation shots of INSA’s show in the gallery, opening next Thursday, February 3rd, but we are creating the build-up. —The Citrus Report staff
