You know the Citrus Report and cats, so when we saw this post on Los Angeles-based Cat Cult up on Juxtapoz, we got hyped and we are thinking of making our cat a cult figure. It already smokes. We have been in LA recently, and we haven’t seen Cat Cult’s work, but now we are going to take a mini-pilgrimage and learn from the mighty Cat Cult.

Juxtapoz notes that they use illustration, printmaking, stencils, wheatpaste, photography, painting, sewing, and graphic design on their pieces. We approve.

A nice video from Juxtapoz just in time for Saber’s solo show at Opera Gallery in NYC, “The American Graffiti Artist,” that opens Friday, May 6…

You know what helps your art cred when you cast a bunch of vulvas from a wide-range of women in terms of age and then make The Great Wall of Vagina? Winning an award. And in the case of Jamie McCartney, you win the Erotic Signature international sculpture prize.

According to Juxtapoz, the project was “5 years in the making. The age range of the women is from 18 to 76. Included are mothers and daughters, identical twins, transgendered men and women as well as a woman pre and post natal and another one pre and post labiaplasty. This is about grabbing the attention, using humour and spectacle, and then educating people about what normal women really look like. The Great Wall of Vagina is a 9 metre long sculpture made of 400 plaster casts of vulvas, all of them unique, arranged into ten large panels. The world Premiere will be in the Brighton Festival Fringe in May 2011.”

That is just a badass cover by a badass artist. We may be biased because we have friends at Juxtapoz, but we are really fascinated by LA-based Yahnker, and we have always liked this pizza piece (officially Cheese Slice on Garland) since we saw it at Yahnker’s exhibition at Kunsthalle LA earlier this year. And at 72″ x 72″, it is large and in charge.

We just saw in this Juxtapoz interview with Die Antwoord that Ninja is not only wearing the “Kila” shirt, but wearing no pants and just the Upper Playground boxers. Nice one.

James Jean plays a mean trumpet, but can’t dunk a basketball. Juxtapoz caught up with Jean at the Downtown LA studio he and David Choe share and produced this video: “Juxtapoz Presents Procrastination with James Jean.” They also document some nunchuck skills, spinning magazines on your finger skills, punching bag skills, pull-up skills, staring at a freeway skills, staring skills, keyboard skills, etc.
