Morocco Boxing from mrevelli on Vimeo.
This is what happens when you go to Morocco and you can’t sleep. You go to boxing matches and you just wander with your camera. Some people go to Hunter’s Point everyday, some the Lower Haight, others a warehouse on Cesar Chavez, and some travel to Morocco.

Our new neighbors, Fecal Face, have their first show at their new space in the Lower Haight, West, Wester, Westest Part 2, featuring curation by Ryan Travis Christian. The show will be Chicago-themed, well, almost Chicago-themed as one artist is from NYC (Ted Gahl, whose work is above) and one is from Oakland, Rogelio Gamez. But the rest are from the great city of Chicago.
Here is what Ryan Travis Christian had to say: “In the second iteration of West, Wester, Westest, I’ve once again chosen a selection of emerging and mid-career artists that A) don’t regularly exhibit in SF, if at all. and B) create work that “throws a wrench” so to speak, into what FFDG regularly shows. As a long time fan of Fecal Face, I’m honored to have such an immense platform to expose these artist to the world on. In terms of style and/or concept, these artists produce works that are very forward thinking and often experimental, throughout various mediums. The works exhibited, will run the gamut of content, from grossly disturbing to humorous, to bold and beautiful abstraction and then back again. Please join us @ FFDG’s new location in the Lower-Haight (248 Fillmore @Haight) on March 11th for the opening reception of West, Wester, Westest Part 2, I will be in attendance.” -Ryan Travis Christian
Very excited t0 have Fecal Face Dot Gallery on the block. Good shows and good art ahead.
We have always envisioned turning the Lower Haight into the Best of the Best in terms of artistic and true neighborhoods in San Francisco. Today, as we continue to showcase exhibitions each month in our FIFTY24SF Gallery in the Lower Haight, we are pleased to announce that another SF original, Fecal Face Dot Gallery, is moving onto the block into our old FIFTY24SF space at 248 FIllmore.
As 12-year vets in the Lower Haight, we welcome Fecal Face to the neighborhood. Maybe take them out to some Metro Burger.
Stay tuned for some more exciting news of other old friends coming on to the block in the very near future.
Jeremy Fish just put the finishing touches on his mural at the entryway to the Lower Haight mural. Being that Jeremy Fish is a San Francisco ambassador, he get the primo prime real estate spot on the wall. If you go by said murals, you will see work from Ericailcane, Doze Green, Mars-1, and David Choong Lee. And now, you will see a Silly Pink Bunny sculpture.

Jeremy Fish’s holiday gnomes with their pipe smoking merriment have won Upper Playground the Haighteration Lower Haight Holiday window contest. Big ups to all those that voted and made it a landslide victory…

Prepping for his show that opens this Thursday at FIFTY24SF Gallery, we’re getting a little Ericailcane flavor on our SF store…

Oh wait, we live in the Lower Haight and people already smoke weed on the street and it smells like a proper Burning Spear show every single afternoon. We don’t need a Prop 19 win, we didn’t need it before, right?
Anyway, legalizing and taxing cannabis was a great idea, but the Proposition needs to be written better and be a tad more focused to get those aging, slightly hypocritical old hippies to vote yes. Because they now get drug tested at their CEO jobs, you would have thought they would have liked to relive their glory days regardless . . .
We’ve always strived to create unique experiences for our community, so recently we launched a series of pop-up shops in San Francisco’s Lower Haight to provide an outlet for some of the best up-and-coming brands to showcase their work.
As part of this series, Alex Pardee’s “Zerofriends” retail location will open it’s doors from September 1st – November 1st, 2010. Much like the location which popped up in New York City this last winter, the San Francisco Zerofriends location will feature the entire Zerofriends catalog of twisted apparel designs, prints and toys – along with some surprises to the tune of artist signings, exclusive product releases and unique events. Alex will be holding a grand opening celebration for the store on Saturday, September 4th from 2:00PM – 4:00PM where he’ll be “hanging, signing, and making bad puns live in person.”
ZEROFRIENDS STORE LOCATION:
September 1st – November 1st, 2010
248 Fillmore St (Haight & Fillmore, next to Upper Playground – Fillmore)
San Francisco, CA
Open Daily from 12-7PM
