Bon Iver makes a “Towers” video

February 27th, 2012

Bon Iver – Towers (Official Music Video) from Bon Iver on Vimeo.

Looks like Justin Vernon, director NABIL, and the rest of the Bon Iver group like Old Man and the Sea and other tales of past lore. What the hell did that mean? We don’t know, just enjoy another song off the stellar Bon Iver album, with the track “Towers.”

Jaylib Mondays: J Dilla x Raekwon “Flying Daggerz”

February 27th, 2012

We don’t want to start Monday off with anything soft this week, as we are starting to get into that time of year where things are just a tad stale and slow in the year with no holidays in sight. Nothing better than a classic Raekwon “Flying Daggerz” track produced by Mr. Dilla. Enjoy the kick off.

We are terribly saddened to hear that one of our favorite bands, Calgary’s Women, lost guitarist Christopher Reimer to an early death at the age of 26. He died in his sleep, with the cause of death unknown at this time. We have championed the band on The Citrus Report for years, calling their track “Eyesore” our absolute favorite song of 2010. He will be missed.

Weakness Wednesday: Thelonious Monk “Epistrophy”

February 22nd, 2012

The kind of music that people listen to when they wake up on a sunny day. Nothing like a Monk performance in Paris, and when you think of Jazz, you think of this man, this hat, and this style. Timeless.

Thom Yorke Tuesday: Brad Mehldau Trio “Everything In Its Right Place” cover

February 21st, 2012

This doesn’t always have to be a Radiohead song, it can be a cover. By someone else. Jazz trio, the Brad Mehldau Trio, cover one of the most groundbreaking songs in 21st century music; Radiohead’s Kid A opener, “Everything In Its Right Place.” It almost sounds here as it should.

February 20th, 2012

Buenos Aires – Inception Park from Black Sheep Films on Vimeo.

For those of you who want to take an imaginary roller coaster ride through a major metropolis like Buenos Aires, conceptual filmmaker Fernando Livschitz has the effects and mind to bring it to you. A bit of fun in ode to an actually decent summer blockbuster, Inception.

Jaylib Mondays: “Smootherness”

February 20th, 2012

You know that word that means a word that sounds like the word? Onomatopoeia? This song is that. It is Smootherness. We botched that whole thing. But you get us.

Sunday Shuffle: Vivian Girls “Such A Joke”

February 20th, 2012

We felt like going back a few years to one of the better all-girl groups to emerge in the new era of all girls groups. We very much enjoy and little straight-forward fuzz pop. And here you go…
