We have nothing against the band Muse, its just that we feel we can never be honest fans of the band because it always sounds a little teen-angst, poor-man’s Radiohead “the end of the world” type vibe, and it always sounds a little too theatrical. But, they are good, and this is a great track.

Summertime is on its way and lately i’ve been getting in the mood with a good ole Ryan Adams and The Cardinals live set.  This selection comes from a Norfolk Virgina show June 5th 2005 and features og Cardinals lineup with JP Bowersock on guitar and Catherine Popper on bass. Rosebud is Ryan’s tribute to Jerry Garcia’s guitar, and this version is a mainstay in summer hang out sessions.
(no youtube of this so you know it must of been good.)
Rosebud

Too bad dude doesn’t jam like this anymore, Mandy Moore needs to do some inspiring and get this guy back on the horse, serisously Ryan. Now im not asking you to go back to doing speedballs and hitting the bottle on two month tour binges, but we could meet in the middle right.

Either way, cruise through RA&TC live material circa 2005 and you will have a badass summer.

I believe in Magic?

Lots of play on words, you get the idea.  The Orlando Magic were expecting Cleveland to show up but instead Boston did, and they went uh-oh.  Like in The Outsiders when the Soc’s were ready to fight until Swayze (RIP) and the crew rolled up instead of just Matt Dillon and Ponyboy.

Btw, KG is Swayze in this metaphor.

Good luck in game 3 guys, home court advantage is kind of overrated these days anyway, right LeBron?

Also for anyone interested the Wizards pick up #1 Draft pick in the lottery but damn who would want to play in Washington, not even Obama has a stimulus package for this team, (you knew that was coming right?)

Nets are bummed all their hard work didn’t pay off. Maybe next season guys.

Intel and Vice want to be a match made in heaven

Announced yesterday, Vice Media (of Viceland.com, Vbs.tv, and Vice Magazine), and technology giant Intel are teaming up to create “The Creators Project.” What does that mean? According to Wired, it means a place that showcases creative talents discovered or championed by Vice. Well, we thought we already had the Internet, but we guess we need an Intel funded place to “showcase” talent that is “indie.”

Wired writes:

“The core idea sprang from a dinner conversation between Vice’s Shane Smith and (excellent) film and video director Spike Jonze. Jonze asked Smith what he would do if he could do anything he wanted, with no financial constraints. Smith said his dream was to launch something along the lines of 1920s salons in Paris, where writers, artists, musicians and playwrights gathered to exchange ideas, resulting in a rich cultural cross-pollination.”

Intel is the no financial constraints part of the equation.

POSE / RUMBLE / KNOWNGALLERY

May 17th, 2010

-My main man POSE has been has been working his ass off preparing for his first solo show this month at KNOWN.

-THIS SHOW IS GOING TO BE FUCKING INCREDIBLE, DONT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY.

2db0648dfdallery.jpg POSE / RUMBLE / KNOWNGALLERY train towards the new street slang signature personality person north Known Gallery Graffiti from the street Chicago

Known Gallery presents RUMBLE by Pose 1

Born and raised in the Windy City, Pose came of age during Chicago’s hard knock golden years of graffiti—molding him into the person he is today. Having put in endless work in the streets, the lines, and the train yards, he solidly secured his name well before any outsider took notice to his unique style.

A Pose graffiti piece is like a branded stamp. In this exhibition Pose investigates a traditional style of comic book illustration and painting and infuses it with his own recognizable twist. Complexly layered, his work is bursting at the seams, often stunning and confusing onlookers with an intense amount of intricate detail. Each time Pose paints a new wall it walks a fine line between being an artfully-mastered collage of illustration—with images drawn from TV, literature, film, and fine art—and a graffiti piece. In this body of work, Pose has translated his trademarks in his signature graffiti style, (classic cartoon characters, sign painting fonts, a flat graphic style, and vivid color choices) from the street to the studio, creating elaborate large- and small-scale paintings. His work as an innovator in the graffiti world has led him to focus on what were previously only accents on his letters—exploring imagery and figuration in bold ways. Inside you will find numerous traces of his personality… the struggle, humor, sarcasm, love, hate, and always a feverish push towards the new.

The show title “RUMBLE” comes from the slang term meaning, a street fight between rival teenage gangs. When you look at one of Pose’s paintings you get the sense of a clash, but one which is noticeably classic, knowingly juvenile, polished, and American.

Pose currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois; he is a member of the acclaimed West Coast artist collective The Seventh Letter, as well as being a founder of his own Chicago based design and art firm We Are Supervision. He has traveled internationally on his own and with The Seventh Letter specifically to showcase his skills as one of the best graffiti artists out there. This is Pose’s first solo exhibition at Known Gallery.
