Chilean-born and London-based artist Livia Marin presents traditional ceramic objects like cups, kettles and vases, appearing to melt into puddles of porcelain. Each piece in her series ‘Nomad Patterns’,  retains its original pattern, displaying traditional Chinese landscape motifs and decorations like birds, willows and pagodas. Marin explains, by using everyday objects, she hopes “to enquire into the nature of how we relate to material objects in an era dominated by mass-production, standardization and global circulation”. Below are select works from the ‘Nomad Patterns’ series. See more of  Livia Marin’s work on her website.
