Dr. Lakra’s (Jerónimo López Ramírez) new exhibition “Monomito” is showing at Kurimanzutto Gallery in Mexico City. With “Monomito”, the Oaxaca-based artist presents a large collection of sculptures made from found objects at flea markets. The constant collector, Dr. Lakra uses some of his findings to create totems and deities out of a mix of faces, bodies and limbs from different toys. The show also features distorted sculptures of famous politicians, musicians and writers, as the artist adds defects and assorted bumps to the classical sculptures.
