Wall phone. In the 80s we didn't have cell phones. No one texted. There wasn't any instant messaging and definitely no Facebook updates. No answering machines meant that there was a pad and pen next to the phone at all times. Usually, the pen didn't work. What most of us had was this phone in the kitchen. Some kids had a phone in their rooms but it was the same telephone line and the parents always eavesdropped. One day Dad came home with a 20ft extension and we hugged him.
