Gusty Beanies Are Back

Our most popular Beanie, The Gusty, is now back in stock. Available in five different colors - Red Marl, Brown Marl, Black Marl, Navy Marl and Forest Marl - they Gusty is a super comfortable beanie that can be folded with a cuff or worn without. And if you are wondering, Marl is an effect found in knitted fabrics in which 2 different colors appear blurred by the close knit. Cool.

The Vault: Jeremy Fish

In our most recent UP Vault release, we're happy to feature one of our most prolific and unflagging contributors, Jeremy Fish.

Jeremy Fish lives and works in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. His artwork deals with the relationship of all things cute and creepy, and the balance between the two.

The work tends to be narrative stories designed with a library of symbols and characters. In the last few years, Fish has exhibited his work in Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, Poland, Hungry, Denmark, Canada, Holland, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, and all over the United States.

The Vault includes our newest design from Jeremy, The Rat Race, celebrating 2020, The Year of the Rat. It also includes two new archival releases, Earthquake and Hang Moose

Masks On, Tusks Out - COVID 19 Update

By now you've no doubt received countless emails from countless companies about their plans during the COVID-19 pandemic. We here at Upper Playground are following the same Shelter-In-Place playbook. So, a few updates:

Our 220 Fillmore Flagship Store in San Francisco is closed until at least April 7th and possibly longer. We'll reopen as soon as the good city of SF gives us the all-clear.

Although there has not yet been an official city mandate, our Portland store will be closed indefinitely as of Saturday, March 21. PDX will reopen doors as soon as it is safe and responsible to do so.

Online, we remain open for business. So kill some social-distancing-approved time perusing designs from your favorite artists. We surely appreciate the support.

Stay safe, stay healthy, be well.

New Artist Ferris Plock

Upper Playground has seen some unruly characters wander through over the years, but these latest additions from the wildly original world of Ferris Plock look like troublemakers of the highest order.

Ferris is a San Francisco-based artist who lives in the city with his wife, Kelly Tunstall and their son Brixton. Ferris and Kelly are also known as the artist duo, KeFe. Through a variety of mediums including acrylic, watercolor, spray paint, India ink, gold or silver leaf, and collage Plock creates highly detailed works, often character-based paintings on wood panel, that combine contemporary pop culture with the aesthetic of Japanese ukiyo-e woodblocks.
